Texts: Rom. 3.23, Rom. 6.116, Rom. 8.13, 1 Cor. 15.56, James 1.5, Gn. 2, Rom. 5.12, Jn. 5.24, Jn. 8.51, Jn. 11.25, Luke 15.24, Ezekiel 18.20, Heb. 9.27, 2 Cor. 5.10, Rev. 2.11, Rev. 20.6, Rev. 20.12 ...

The concept of death is quite interesting. It is one of the most debated Biblical subjects. Inspiringly, death is merged into the subject of heaven and hell - as one has to, physically, die before meeting their fate.
In that case, we will also derive insightful statements and discernment from this book: The Message of Heaven and Hell, Bruce Milne.
Romans 3.23 Wages of sin,
Romans 6.16 Sin leads to death
1Cor 15 56 Death is the sting of sin,
James 1.5 Sin is the womb in which death is conceived
Genesis 2 Adam & Eve sinned & brought death upon mankind (Also, Rom. 5.12)
Jesus taught that (John 5.24, 8.51, 11.25) to believe in Him is to pass from death to life.
Death Is a Profoundly Moral Reality
Moral realism represents views that are mind-independent moral facts/truths in the universe - so death being a moral reality, means that a clear-cut nexus can be drawn between death and sin - like Causation in physics, sin causes death.
The following text and statements from renowned Gospel legends sheds some light here:
Mathew 8.22 Let the dead bury the dead, Luke 15.24.
James Denney Death is the sacrament of sin
Karl Rahner Death is guilt made visible
Ezekiel 18.20 The soul who sins will die
What Happens in Our Death - Bruce Milne
Extract from the Message of Heaven and Hell - not to the tee, though:
"In our death, all illusions are stripped away; all the pathetic rags & tatters with which we seek to cover ourselves from the exposure to the awful gaze, all are here torn & blown away...sham religion (Christian service), frantic philanthropic activity...
...the prayers and cheery smiles, devotions & sacrifices, public displays & private gestures - all fall away, swept aside & scattered to the winds by the tempest of the divine judgement that falls upon us in death.
Death is not a natural phenomenon that allows us to shrug our shoulders and mutter," Ah, well, we can't live forever!" For in truth, we were created to do just that - live forever.
We are destined for immortality - death is not the end. As immortals made for everlasting fellowship or communion with God, we shall & must last forever.
Now, I will discuss these extracts in detail:
In Bruce Milne's statements, we see that:
Death is an intruder.
Death is the tumbril of darkness or the evil one carrying us away.
Karl Barht's Sombre Words
Another extract from Message of Heaven and Hell:
" Death as it meets us can only be understood as a sign of God's judgement. For when it meets us, as it undoubtedly does, it meets us as sinful and guilty people with whom God cannot finally do anything. But whom He can only regret having made. For man has failed as God's creature.
He has not used the freedom - the free will - in which He was privileged to exist before God. He has squandered it away in the most incredible manner. He can hope for nothing better than to be hewn down and cast into the fire."
Death is the Prelude of Judgement - Not its Exhaustion
Death, however, is not the exhausting of judgement - rather, its forestate and prelude. So, from these texts - below - we can, with all certainty, confirm that death does not consume and destroy us completely - to the extent where we cease to exist as conscious beings. Instead, death takes us to the place of reckoning.
Hebrews 9.27 Death comes before judgement
Revelation 2.11, 20.6, 14 Judgement and the second death
2 Corinthians 5.10, Every soul will be judged
Revelation 20.12, 14.12 I saw the dead...before the throne...books were opened
Conclusion - A Joyful Paragraph
At the heart of the crossbeam, Jesus Christ bore our hell in His "dying for us". He died our death - the death of the sinner, us, who, as the object of Father's wrath, receives in death the first fruits of the eternal dying or damnation, which's hell.
